We write for photographers who already know their camera and want accessories that fit it, carry well and solve a real problem.
Why this site exists
Snapshotshowrankroostr is published by Roostr Field Media Ltd, a small independent company based in Bristol. Our editors shoot landscape, wildlife, events and portraits, and every one of us owns accessories we regret buying. That experience shapes the site: we start with a shooting problem and work backwards to the kit that addresses it, and we say plainly when an extra item will not change much.
How we evaluate
We use accessories in the conditions they are sold for: tripods on wet rock and in wind, bags on long walks and through airports, filters at sunrise, cards in long bursts, remotes in the cold. Where we have not personally used a product, we say so and rely on published specifications from the maker, standards bodies such as the SD Association, and consistent reports from working photographers.

Independence and corrections
No manufacturer or retailer pays for a position, reviews our copy before publication or receives advance notice of rankings. We do not run advertising on this site. If we ever introduce affiliate links, they will be labelled on the page where they appear and will not change the order of any shortlist.
